Meet the Artist

Dennis & Deborah Flowers

About Dennis…

For many, retirement marks the beginning of a slower, more relaxed chapter of life. But for OHP Lieutenant Dennis Flowers, it was the spark that ignited a new, vibrant journey. After decades of service in a high-stakes, fast-paced career in law enforcement, Dennis retired in 2010—laying down his badge and picking up a paintbrush. What began as a personal creative outlet quickly transformed into a full-time artistic calling.

A native of southern Oklahoma and a former rancher of 40 years, Dennis draws deep inspiration from the land, wildlife, and western heritage that shaped his life. His acrylic paintings capture striking moments of light, color, and emotion—translating his passion for the natural world into fine art that resonates. From sweeping landscapes and panoramic scenes to horses, cattle, and working cow dogs, Dennis brings each subject to life with authenticity and reverence.

Dedicated to excellence, Dennis has studied under world-renowned artists and continually strives to refine his craft. His work has earned numerous awards and is featured in private collections, offices, and churches across the United States. Whether painting a quiet moment on the plains or a powerful scene of spiritual significance, Dennis approaches each canvas with purpose—guided by the simple rule that he must feel passionately about every subject he paints.

Today, from his studio, Dennis continues to thrive—creating work that honors the beauty of the world around him and sharing it with collectors nationwide.

About Deborah…

Deborah Flowers’ journey into the art world began long before retirement—rooted in a childhood love for horses and an instinctive habit of sketching anything that sparked her imagination. Though she pursued a long and accomplished career in nursing, rising from hospital floors to the collegiate level and ultimately earning a PhD, her artistic spirit remained quietly present.

After 42 fulfilling years in healthcare and education, Deborah rediscovered her creative passion—thanks in part to the gentle encouragement of her husband, Dennis, a professional artist himself. What started as “tagging along” to his art classes soon blossomed into a personal artistic awakening. With brush in hand, she rekindled a love for painting that had quietly waited beneath the surface.

Deborah’s acrylic paintings reflect her deep connection to the natural world. Her favorite subjects—horses, birds, flowers, and rustic landscapes—are brought to life through glowing light, impressionistic strokes, and dynamic color. Whether capturing a delicate bloom or the quiet strength of a horse, her work radiates a sense of joy, peace, and purpose.

Now working from the studio, Deborah embraces the artistic lifestyle with the same passion and dedication that defined her nursing career. Her art serves as a celebration of beauty in everyday moments—and the power of pursuing creativity at any stage of life.
